The Algae Blenny is a very popular addition to marine systems.
It is mottled tan in color, appears to have somewhat over sized eyes.
Despite its tendency to sometimes grow to an impressive 5" in size within the home aquarium,
the Algae Blenny remains peaceful, active and also somewhat fun to observe.
the Algae Blenny will generally tend perch on live rock, hide in caves, and glide across the substrate whilst grazing on microalgae. Therefore, it requires a larger system with a variety of live rock and rockwork.
The Algae Blenny is peaceful towards other fish however if the tank mate is similar in shape or appearance to the blenny it may become somewhat challenging. It is also known to nip at small-polyped stony coral.
It is generally best to house the Algae Blenny singly unless they are a mated pair and housed in a larger tank.
The Algae Blenny does best in well-established aquariums with large amounts of natural algae to feed on.
The diet can be supplemented with vegetable matter, spirulina, and herbivore preparations.
